Reviews:
"One of Fodor's Best B&B's"
One of the best places to stay in Salem, the Amelia Payson House is within walking distance of all the town's attractions, only a block or so away from the many museums in the historic district, and a brief stroll across the common from the town center and the sea. Built in 1845 for Amelia and Edward Payson, the Greek Revival house has bright, airy rooms with floral-print wallpaper, brass and four-poster canopy beds, nonworking marble fireplaces, and white wicker. The parlor downstairs contains a grand piano, while upstairs a reading room is full of visitor information. A Continental breakfast of fresh fruits and home-baked breads is served family-style in the elegant dining room. Ada and Donald Roberts have been operating successfully as an inn since 1985.
Review from Fodor's Travel Online, Inc., 1999
"Editors' Pick "
"This Greek Revival house offers fine antique furnishings. Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast of fresh muffins, scones, fruit, and more. Plus, you're only a stroll from Salem's central square."
